Let’s start with a little history: Claude Monet (1840–1926) was a French painter and one of the founders of Impressionism, a style of art that focuses on capturing light, color, and movement rather than tiny details. Monet loved painting outside (en plein air) so he could see how the sunlight changed the look of just about everything. Some of his most famous works include his colorful Water Lilies series and Haystacks, which he painted over and over at different times of day to show how light transformed them.
One of the things that made Monet special, is that he encouraged everyone to see beauty in everyday life—sunlight on water, flowers in a garden, or the colors of a sunrise. He once said, “I perhaps owe having become a painter to flowers.” 🌸 His joy in nature continues to inspire artists today—including our talented friends at Elderwood Residence at Wheatfield!
