ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: LINDA TIPPETTS

By Christine Snyder

Our National Parks inspired artist of the week is Linda Tippetts.  Linda has a massive portfolio of impressionistic oil paintings of the American countryside, including the U.S. National Parks.  Her artwork is described as “en plein air,” meaning “in open air,” or outdoors.  She believes this approach allows her to develop a relationship to the land that she may not get if painting from photographs.  Born and raised on the Rocky Mountain Front, she was surrounded by rocky cliffs, grassy prairies, and grizzly bears.  While creating her masterpieces, she aims to maintain the excitement of experiencing each place while also executing the elements of a good composition, including color, movement, and balance.  I certainly believe she accomplishes both!
